Ubisoft dropped a trailer for its newest entry in its open world Rambo-fantasy series Far Cry. Far Cry 6 takes us to the fictional island of Yara, which will no doubt be entirely destroyed by the end of our playthrough.

This trailer introduced Dani Rojas, a member of the Libertidad faction working to overthrow fascist dictator El Presidente Anton Castillo (Played with chilling efficiency by Giancarlo Esposito). This walking mortar appears to serve as the tutorial and guide for the player character. It also hints at a familial connection between Rojas, Castillo, and his thirteen-year-old son Diego.

Far Cry has always involved dropping us into exotic locations (with the exception of Far Cry 5) and then allowing us to set them on fire in the most creative and brutal fashions. Far Cry 6 appears to be no exception (and that’s a good thing). What Far Cry 6 brings that is new to the table is urban combat. Personally, I’m really looking forward to setting up incendiary ambushes from high ground and welcoming El Presidente’s forces to the last barbecue they’ll ever attend.

Far Cry 6 drops on October 7, 2021 for PS4, PS5, X-Box Series S/X, X-Box One, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and PC.

UPDATE: Dani Rojas is the player character. He or she (Depending on player choice) will be fully voiced. This marks a return to Far Cry’s return to player characters with personalities since Far Cry 4. I’m very okay with this, because I’d much rather be the walking mortar than watch it. Also I’m really looking forward to having a pet alligator.
