Most of us have a negative opinion of ourselves.
Tell someone you like yourself and you’ll more than likely get a derisive chuckle, raised eyebrows, or something else along those lines.
I’m not sure why people condition us to think so little of ourselves. Think ‘too much’ of yourself and you’re labeled as arrogant. Produce results, and you’re as likely to be hated or ostracized as you are to be rewarded.
Subconsciously we seek out people and things that reinforce this negative self-image. The good feelings that result from these associations are often reinforcements of how we feel about ourselves.
I am not worthy of positive reinforcement.
I am not worthy of good things.
I am not worthy of being loved.
We may not like the negative things that happen to us as a result, but we accept them because that’s what we believe we deserve.
We seek the things that destroy us.
When something healthy and positive appears in our lives, we self-sabotage. This concept is so alien and clashes so fiercely with what we believe that we feel as though we have no choice but to reject it.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
You are worthy of positive reinforcement.
You are worthy of good things.
You are worthy of being loved.
And most importantly, THE BAD VOICES IN YOUR HEAD ARE LYING TO YOU.
If you learn to acknowledge these things you can break the cycle. You will seek out things that make you stronger, rather than destroy you.
I wish you good luck and a safe place in your own head. Thanks for reading.
