Morning Reads July 30, 2021

Video games are very near and dear to me. They’ve been the one constant in my life throughout decades of trauma (some of which is self-inflicted, I admit). I cut my teeth on Yar’s Revenge, found myself in Street Fighter 2, and played through the Mass Effect trilogy no less than three hundred times.

When I gained custody of my son, we bonded over Tekken (my generation) and Call of Duty (his generation). We had nothing in common back in those days. A shared love of the game brought us together.

This is why the Activision-Blizzard fiasco is so deeply disgusting. People are people. Gender and orientation have absolutely nothing to do with one’s ability to do a job. Women do not exist solely for the sexual pleasure of men. I seriously cannot believe that this has to be argued. From beginning to end, the way this situation has been handled is reprehensible and evident that we will more than likely have to burn the system down to see real change.

I would love to see a day, before I leave for his world, where we’re all actually treated based on our character. Sadly, I don’t believe we’re wired for equality. Prove me wrong, please.

I’m gonna step off my soapbox now. Here’s your morning links.

An extensive list of weaponry that will be made available to the player in Far Cry 6 has been revealed. I don’t know if this is a complete list, but there’s enough here to whet ones appetite.

Activision has responded to the allegations with a hollow apology. Theyve also retained a law firm that specializes in union busting to ensure something like this never happens again.

Scarlett Johansson is suing Disney for breach of contract. Black Widow has apparently underperformed on Disney+, and Disney has not been kind in their response to the lawsuit. I guess our generation’s time in the MCU really is over.

And finally, this is why entrepreneurs should work out. Truer words couldn’t be spoken.

Thanks for reading. Have a great day. Be kind to each other.
