Good morning! Here are the top stories floating around the world of pop-culture to close out your week.
- OnlyFans is getting out of the you-know-what business. Basically, they’re closing the door on the industry that made them obscenely rich. They’ve been talking about doing this for awhile now, but this is the first time they’ve actually put a date on the change. Starting in October, the site will block sexually explicit images. Some nudity will still be allowed, but the stuff that platform has become known for will be permanently banned.
- Bethesda is re-re-re-re-re-releasing Skyrim. Again. This time it’s to celebrate the game’s ten year anniversary. Originally released several lifetimes ago in 2011, the title has transformed from a simple game to a mainstay of game culture. Skyrim drops November 11th for PC, PS4, PS5, and X-Box Series X. If you already own the Special Edition, you can get the new patch (which includes fishing!) for free, and pay a little something extra for the Creator Club Bundle. You guys realize if we just quit playing this game, they’d fast-track the next Elder Scrolls, right? I’m not judging, I’m part of the problem.

- Kevin Smith’s new He-Man series is not doing well with fans of the original, but Netflix decided the brand was strong enough to warrant a second series, this one aimed at a younger crowd and in the animation style of the old Beast Wars cartoon of the nineties. I haven’t seen the Revelations yet, but the trailer for this new Masters of the Universe has me geeked.
- And finally, getting onto KDP, Kobo, or any of the other indie publishers is not difficult (I’ll write about that this week). The difficulty is getting your title into people’s hands. While marketing is an ever-evolving process, distribution is pretty straightforward. Jane Friedman demystifies the process in this article. Bookmark it, ye authors, writers, and madpeople, and refer to it for later use.
That’s all for this week. If you have a tip for a good story, email me. I’ll share it and attribute you. Have a great weekend!
