Netflix is Adapting Tekken

Netflix is adapting Bandai Namco’s flagship fighting game series, Tekken, as an anime.

The first trailer dropped today. The story focuses on Jin Kazama, the son of Jun Kazama and Kazuya Mishima. Jim’s idyllic life in the wilderness is shattered when Ogre, the demonic antagonist of Tekken 3, kills Jun.

For some reason that still doesn’t make sense to this day, Jun advised her son to seek out his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, if something were to happen to her. If you’re familiar with Tekken’s story at all, you know this doesn’t end well for everyone involved.

The trailer looks promising. It’s good that the story picks up in Tekken 3, where the story started to take shape.

My only concern so far: the anime is supposed to feature the first meeting between Kazuya and Jin. Thing is, Kazuya is supposed to be marinating at the bottom of a volcano , or whatever is left of him is supposed to be in the hands of the Mishima Zaibatsu’s rival corporation, G.

Tekken: Bloodline will drop later this year. I’ll keep you appraised.

Thanks for reading.
